'We DO talk about Bruno'
When Media Ceases What Will Be Left?

In modern society we are constantly in a cycle of using opiate-like distractions to cover up the fundamental systemic problems we all face. If the day came when this temporary high was removed from circulation the underlying issues would emerge. Instead of facing our psychological problems and their causes we turn to the readily available information flows to divert our attention. Whether it is scrolling and scrolling to get those dopamine hits or getting more interested in the lives of characters on tv shows than your own life. Without media to numb us we would immediately have to face the reality of our modern lives. As a society we are dependent on media to cope with the psychological effects of our alienation.

This project was inspired by Erich Fromm’s 1955 book, The Sane Society. It appears more relevant now than ever before, truly ahead of its time. I can only imagine what Fromm would say of our world now. My good friend and colleague at my workplace gifted me this book, thank you Bruno!
